Craft Show Spring Boutique at Dixie! - Click here for details if you want to be a vendor.   Mr. Spritzkey just let us know that we have secured Fri May 9 evening to set up and all day Sat May 10 to hold the first annual Dixie Craft Fair Shopping Extravaganza. The set up hours will probably be 5 pm til 8 pm  on Friday and the actual fair hours will be Sat am 0900 til 400pm  We will probably need to arrive Sat am by 700 am and be there til 5 pm or so.   This does not mean everyone has to stay there all day, but we can do this in shifts.  I will continue to update everyone-just wanted to get the word out ASAP.  Please email Mary Anne Brough directly maryannebrough@insightbb.com or call 630 6911.  I am seeking crafters and vendors-have any interested parties contact me.  Click here for a flyer with information you can distribute to friends and family!!

Kentucky Speedway Fundraiser - Great way to help pay off your band fees!!  If you work we'll put $50/adult and $40/student towards your band fees when you work an event.  Race Days are May 10 ARCA/RE/MAX SERIES,  May 24 FRANK KIMMEL ENDURO NATIONALS, June 13-14 MEIIJER 300, July 18-19 BUILT FORD TOUGH 225 TRUCK SERIES, AUGUST 8-9 THE KENTUCKY INDY 300 (IRL RACE).  You have to complete the on line training in order to work the event. Here is website.  Go to www.djsfood.com  Click on training. Then training videos. Enter User Name: djsfood Password: popcorn Then click Ok.  Click on Concession Training Video and/ or Alcohol Training Video. (You will need to view the appropriate videos based on the areas you will be involved with during event season.)  At the end of the training video. Click on Training (at top of page). Then click on the appropriate test (concession or alcohol).  Complete the short test. Be sure to enter your name and your group’s name. Then click submit. Annual recruiting party! -  will be held at President’s Park on Saturday, May 17 from 11am ‘til 4pm. We have lots of fun and games planned as well as a cook out. The band will be providing the meat but any donations of side items, buns, paper products and plastic wear is greatly appreciated.   If it rains the party will be held in the Band Room at Dixie.

2008 DIXIE BAND INFORMATIONAL MEETING - This meeting is for all new and returning members of the Dixie Band.  We ask that each member have at least one representative at this meeting.  During this meeting you will have a chance to:  Pick-Up Important Forms, Review the Band Handbook, Sign all necessary paperwork, Learn the theme of the 2008 Show, Meet new members, Ask Questions, Pay $50 Deposit, Sign-Up for duties throughout the season, Learn about the various roles parents play in our organization.  We are asking that each parent please bring a self addressed stamped envelope, which will be used for the Kenton County Volunteer form.  If you completed a volunteer form last year, then you will NOT have to complete one this year.  We are also asking that each family bring in their insurance card so that it may be copied at the meeting.  Tuesday – May 27, 2008, 7pm , Dixie Band Room – Please enter on the right hand side of the building through the glass doors buy the gym.  Immediately turn left and go up the staircase to the 2nd Floor.  The band room is located in room 1504 above the gym.  Any questions please email Robb.Duddey@kenton.kyschools.us

DIXIE HEIGHTS MARCHING COLONELS DRUM LINE - Practices before Camps – May 13, 15, 22, 27, 29 -  June 3, 5,10,12,17.  5:30pm to 8:00pm – Dixie Band Room.  Auditions for the line will be during either the May 27th or 29th Rehearsal.   Camps begin on July 7th.

Bands of America Grand National Championships!!! - The 2008 Dixie Heights Marching Colonels will be competing in the BOA Grand National Championships!  This is Dixie’s first BOA event since 1994.   This is an exciting opportunity and a great way to end the 2008 season.  The competition will be held in the newly constructed Lucas Oil Stadium…the new home of the Indianapolis Colts, Bands of America, and Drum Corps International.  Grand National Championships will be held on November 12th through the 15th.  Dixie will play THURSDAY, November 13 at 6:15 PM.  More info can be found at http://www.musicforall.org/default.aspx
