If you need Handicapped Parking, the E-Town Band Boosters ask that when you pull into the parking lots that you speak to their parking attendants and they will direct you to the handicap lot. If you would like to caravan/carpool to the competition please arrive behind the concession stand around 10:20am. COME TO THE TRUCKS! Please do not talk badly about other bands....and please do not talk about our band’s business with other groups. Please turn off all Cell Phones while watching bands perform. It is important to clap in appropriate spots for all bands, but it is not appropriate to talk during performances. Also, please do not try and enter the stands or leave the stands while a band is performing. If this is your first competition you will find that these are fun events, but there are definitely differences between band comps and football games. We need to support all of the bands there. Please take time to read the article at the following link about appropriate etiquette and band shows. http://kyband.com/home/articles/marching-contest-etiquette/ Explanation of Festival versus Competition Due to the fact that there were only 5 bands that signed up for this show and that they were all in Class 5A, E-Town decided to have the prelims run be Festival Class only. This means that each band will be judged and scored; however the scores will NOT be compared. There will be no first place through 5th place for prelims. At the 5:50pm Ceremony they will announce the ratings. A distinguished Rating is a score of 80 or above. Proficient is from a 60 to 80. A Distinguished rating is hard to pull off the first week out, but it is not impossible. This year KMEA has also added a progression chart suggesting where band scores should fall as the weeks move forward to Championships…meaning it will be harder to get above an 80 on the first week out. If you are interested in learning more about how KMEA shows are judged, you can use the following link to take you to the KY Marching Bands website. http://kyband.com/home/articles/how-kmea-marching-band-contest-are-judged/ The Finals performance will be open competition and there will be placement awards, Best Color Guard, Best Percussion, best music, best visual, etc. The host band is never in competition, they perform in exhibition for judges’ comments only.
